Criminal Intent (Mike Daley/Rosie Fernandez Legal Thriller Book 3)
You can pick your friends, but you can’t pick your family. And lately, Mike Daley’s family has been keeping him very busy.
An ex-priest, ex-public defender, and ex-corporate lawyer, Daley and his former wife, Rosie Fernandez, now run their own San Francisco criminal defense firm.
Most of their cases are fairly small-time, which is why it would be surprising that the person accused of murdering movie director Richard (Big Dick) MacArthur is calling them. But things get personal when the accused is Rosie’s own niece, Angelina.
And the family drama doesn’t end there.
Rosie’s brother, Tony, may be on the wrong end of a strong-arm graft proposal.
The son of one of the firm’s lawyers has just been busted on a drug charge.
Mike is having a clandestine affair with a woman judge.
And Rosie herself has a dark secret that may make all of it seem irrelevant.
An intricate plot, immensely likeable characters, powerful suspense, and more than a touch of humor-these are Siegel’s hallmarks. CRIMINAL INTENT will keep you turning pages until its final, surprising end.

The Number of Reviews Say It All! A Series Worth Reading. An Author Worth Following!
I loved everything about this book and this series! Intriguing main characters whose lives, loves and choices create a foundation that withstands any level of crisis and everyday uncertainties that comes with real life. The journey of Mike/Rosie and family is one I will continue follow. The entire cast of characters have their own interest and appeal. Each one adds something special. The cases are never ordinary. The twists and turns make for a solid ride with people I really like. Already anticipating the next chapter in their lives!Thank you, Mr. Siegel. Your case has merit. Please continue!

A ‘workman-like’ legal procedural
I like legal procedurals. Hence the 4-star rating for a very ordinary effort. There, got that out of the way. This is a pretty well crafted story that follows very familiar plotlines. Rich, older husband dies suspiciously. Beautiful young widow is found unconsious near the scene. Did she kill him? We’ve all read this story a dozen times in other legal procedurals.Charactization is in top form and is really what hold the readers interest. You develop empathy for them very rapidly. best part of the book.Dialogue, just ok.Narrative- strong. Helps to connect story segues.Plotting- first rate, but as said previously almost follows a ‘template’ for this type of story. One thing that bugged me was some of the unlikely and unsustainable relationships that persist. Ex- Mike and Rosie. Ex-spouses, who still have the hots for each other and share a law practice. Come on. I defy anyone to come up with a real-world analogue to this situation. Also Mike’s relationship with the lady judge is kinda weird. Not that it couldnt happen… but weird and hard to relate to none-the-less.No surprises here; but, an entertaining read. Well priced.

Binge-reading is so FUN!
Ups, downs, twists, turns, faster than a logical mind, more fun, maybe, than a Red Carpet stroll; this series by Sheldon Siegel hits all the feels and even a couple of new ones! I ended up with tears, but happy ones! My inner GrammarCop really appreciates a good read without having to blow the whistle or demand a re-write! Excellent character development, plot twists, and use of locale. The only detail I hated is what happened to the restored classic vehicles, OMGosh!Yes, this author is my newest Fav!Bobi (not WFH, but Mrs!)

a very interesting ending, recommend
This was a good thriller with a lot of possibilities and twists. I’m just wondering was Marty really suicidal and was Little Richard fate accidentally. I think author should’ve elaborated on this more. I’m not a romance reader so I don’t have much to comment on Mike and Rosie relationship. It’s just weird to me. I really just skipped over chapters with just Mike and Rosie. I was hoping Mike could’ve made it work with Leslie but I knew he couldn’t because Rosie was too involved in their relationship. But I do like Mike and Pete. And Carolyn is growing on me also. I’m not too fond of Rosie.

A Complex Legal Mystery
This, the third in the Daley/Fernandez Legal Mysteries, is a very good read. This is categorized as a thriller, though I think it best described as a mystery. To me, the story is missing the elements to qualify it as a thriller. However, that doesn’t diminish the quality of the writing, plot and character development or the reader’s satisfaction in reading it. Siegel is a master at developing the plot of his stories. There are numerous characters who are possible perpetrators of the killing that the story centers around. And, of course, it is the job of Daley and Fernandez to find out who the real perpetrator really is. The reader is left guessing until the very end. This story is also enriched by the changing and growing relationship between Daley and Fernandez. Though ex husband and wife, they remain very close, devoted to each other and their child. And now Fernandez is facing a health crisis while trying to handle the murder case. All this makes the plot complex, and very satisfying. The final revelation of the murderer is somewhat surprising, troublesome, and yet kind of intriguing. And how Daley and Fernandez handle the revelation is also compeling. I think any reader would find this book a satisfying read.

I couldn’t put it Down
I’ve read all 3 Rosie and Mike thrillers and loved every one of them! The characters are so likeable and realistic with complex personalities. The storylines keep you interested. This last book really had me trying to figure out who did it. The ending was a surprise in more ways than one. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. Thank you Sheldon Siegel for writing these books that have kept me so entertained!

Another good readNot too much legal detail but enough to draw the story and characters together

For a legal thriller series this book didn’t even get to preliminary hearing which is not surprising but this book sort of let the bad guys off the hook which was kind of disappointment for me but ofcourse first book too had the same situation.

Brilliantly well-paced and a true page-turner. Mr. Siegel is a master story-teller whose characters jump out of the pages; so utterly believable and suspenseful.I first “found” Mr. Siegel about 6 months ago and I am making my way through all of his novels in order. I find them to be intelligent and amongst the best I have read….and believe me, I have read thousands of books in my time !The final chapter of this novel had me shed a tear or two for Mike and Rosie. It is so well written !! If you ever get to read this review Mr. Siegel I plead with you to keep the story of Mike and Rosie and Grace continuing from one novel to the next ad infinitum….please!

Great legal mysteries but with lots of characters so it is a challenge to keep track of everyone particularly if you tend to read a couple of pages in bed before nodding off.
