This book was a delight from start to finish. The characters were (for the most part) delightful and had me giggling all the way through. Tori? She needed a standing ovation. Don’t hesitate to read this feel- good story. You will be glad you did.

Tori makes a colossal mistake by getting drunk and sleeping with her ex, Stuart. When the opportunity arises for a last minute 10 day vacation in Jamaica she takes it. What’s not to like about paradise except the fact that her roommate isn’t coming and she’s stuck sharing a room with the roommate’s grumpy rude ex, Robert. To make matters worse, Tori’s ex one night stand is dating one of the other ladies.After deciding a drink is very much needed, Tori finds out that the resort is dry. Trying to make the most of things, Tori decides to listen to a pianist, Gabriel, and enjoys talking with him after his set. She agrees to allow him to show her parts of the island tourists don’t see. In the meantime she butts heads with Amy who is trying to micromanage the group and has planned out an entire agenda while Tori wants to do her own thing. The back and forth between them is entertaining to say the least.I like the way this book had me wondering who Tori would end up with and I’m really glad it turned out the way it did. This would be a perfect beach read rom-com if you’re looking for one. It’s a quick read that will get you in the mood for summer.Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an ARC of this book.

This has some of the characters from an earlier Phoebe McLeod book, “An un romantic comedy,” which has been my favorite up until now. Thoughly loved this book.

Tori has always loved New Year’s Eve and this year she has agreed to attend 3 parties. The first 2 are fun as she meets up with friends and she almost decides she has had enough alcohol and should skip the third. However, her friends urge her to come to the nightclub where she imbibes even more alcohol. When she wakes the next morning with a terrible handover, she finds herself in an unknown place and beside her is her deplorable ex. She had dated him when she was in uni but they broke up as she was cruel to her. She is horrified and quickly dresses and heads home.Back at work where things are busy, a co-worker says that with the weather so awful, she wants to take a trip to the Caribbean with two other couples and she wants Tori to go along. However, at the airport, she finds herself not rooming with a gal but the woman’s obnoxious boyfriend as the couple has just broken up. Not only is that bad but her smirking ex shows up with his girlfriend. How can things get this bad?Tori is a person who tries to make the best of things and works to make the situation better against all odds. As the resort is alcohol-free, she heads down the beach to a place recommended by the fabulous pianist who plays at the resort. He is so kind and they have lovely talks. When she learns who he really is, she is intrigued by what he does. As they get to know one another, she wonders if there is a future for her with him.What a delightful story. I loved Gabriel and thought Throbbert was a total hoot. However, Any was so obnoxious. How anyone put up with her is beyond me. Such a great ending. Better Than I Expected
This book has been sitting in my Kindle Unlimited list for a while, until I finally started it today. Based on the cover and the blurb, I assumed this was going to be a generic bit of fluff like so many others I’ve read. I forgot this was a Phoebe MacLeod book. It has so much more than fluff. Tori and Gabriel are wonderful characters, who have meaningful conversations while falling in love. The secondary characters are also distinct and anything but cardboard cutouts. This book was a true delight to read.

A bit madcap, but enjoyable romance
“Ex on the Beach” is a rom-com by Phoebe MacLeod. I have to admit, it took me a bit of time to warm up to the main character, Tori, but through the book, she grew on me. She always had a wicked sense of humor (and it shines in this book), but it wasn’t until everyone was at the airport that I really warmed up to her. This book follows Tori as she joins her co-worker, Lily, and her husband on a trip to the Caribbean. Joining the group is Tori’s ex and his current girlfriend and a last-minute switch means that Tori is sharing a room with the male half of a recently broken-up couple, not the female she believed she was going to be sharing it with. There’s mayhem – the roomie is a jerk, ditto for the ex, the ex’s current girlfriend is an uber control freak – and all Tori wants is a pleasant holiday. Fortunately, she and the hotel’s piano player meet and things for Tori turns around. This was a really light beach read (alas, I’m lacking a beach!), but I really liked it. I cannot say that I think the cover accurately depicts the contents of the book, but it is eye-catching.

Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this ARC!I honestly don’t know where to begin because I loved every single thing about this book! Tori is such an amazing character—she’s tough and refuses to let anyone ruin her day, but at the same time, she’s forgiving (when deserved) and always tries to be the bigger person. I really enjoyed how she navigates her relationships, whether they’re positive or negative. The conversations she has with her best friends are delightful; she keeps them updated on everything going on, and it’s clear they’ve always got her back. Plus, their banter is fantastic!I found it impossible to put this book down; it was so much fun to read! I was hooked the entire time, constantly curious about what would happen next. The romance was captivating, and I was kept guessing right up until the end. Overall, this book was a hilarious and heartwarming read, and I can’t wait to recommend it to all my friends!
