Flash Point (Jason Trapp Thrillers Book 3)
Sometimes the past doesn’t stay buried…
A Russian S-400 surface-to-air missile system takes down a passenger jetliner in the skies over Belarus, showering the fields below in burning scrap. As the world begins to mourn the horrific accident, one man—new CIA director, George Lawrence—knows it is anything but.
Three hundred innocents were sacrificed in order to snuff out the life of one man: Professor Alexey Sokolov, a senior adviser to the Russian government. As well as a CIA asset recruited by a ghost known as the Hangman…
Trapp doesn’t know any of this. He’s hundreds of miles away in rural Tuscany with Eliza Ikeda, and on a mission of his own: recovery. Both are hurting, but this is their chance at a real life. Together.
But it doesn’t take long for trouble to arrive at their door. He should have known that his past wouldn’t let go that easily. The question is: why did Sokolov run? How did the Russians discover who he truly was—and what secret could possibly justify the murder of three hundred innocent men, women and children to cover up?
Trapp doesn’t want to know. But he sure as hell intends to find out…

An excellent series by a 1st class action author
I have read all of the action series books by by Brad Thor, Mark Greeney, Vince Flynn, Brad Thor, Andrew Petersen, Jack Carr, Daniel Siva, & Saul Herzog, and after a painful battle through the last series that I read (not naming author), I selected the Jason Trapp series by Jack Slater. I rate Jack’s writing as top of the range, and they are reads that should not be missed – books are all also of decent lengths, not short stories as the last series that I read…. My only complaint is that I go through the books too fast as they are so good that I just cannot put my Kindle down. I have now read the 1st three in the series + Hangman (read it first to get Jason’s background), and have enjoyed every minute of the fast moving action reads. They are all so well researched and detail so factual and up with the times (e.g. Russia, Ukraine and Politics). Yes… Read this series… you wont be sorry….

Cutting edge spy craft
My sister recommended this spy thriller series by Jack Slater and after having read the first two novels, I highly recommend them and especially “Flash Point” which is raising the standard for a Jason Trapp storyline. Jason is a thinking man’s spy full of introspection and ethical principles. At every point Jason will plan the best solution for any situation or unanticipated crisis. The process of observing his methodology is intriguing. The author, Jack Slater, writes with real world history and cutting edge conspiracies that make for a believable plot and an exciting read. The author has created a female counterpart to the protagonist who can hold her own in every aspect of spy craft. Ikeda, is a female spy recently abducted and tortured by the Chinese, who is being guarded in a castle by Jason during her post traumatic recovery. Her character is written with a credible back story to promote and enhance her actions and physicality. A thread throughout the story is finding out if Jason and Ikeda are a match on all fronts given that the agents had just met under extreme circumstances and also that agents rarely form meaningful relationships and prefer to work alone. The writing describes in detail the environs that are continually changing – the description of the castle, the Russian cities, the ships, the weapons, the clothes that paint a picture like a movie as you read through their journey making the environment alive on the page. Almost all the characters are fully realized and believable. Jason’s relationship with his Director is prickly yet based on loyalty and years of trust. The story moves at a quick pace with no dull moments. If you enjoy spy craft, you will be glad you bought this novel. I look forward to reading the next installment “Depth Charge”.

Does the tiger change it’s stripes? The leopold it’s spots? I think not.
I’ve read the first 3 in the Jason Trapp series. I agree with others, they’re mostly a pretty fast-paced, easy read. I’ve read each one in about a day– of course, that’s without sleep, or just a short cat nap, and doing almost nothing else.Jason reminds me of Jack Reacher in multiple ways: Both are loners yet loyal to those they care about & respect. They are patriots. They have a deep sense of responsibility to & for others and their country. They’re both large men, which can be positive or negative, depending on the circumstances or situations they find themselves in. Neither really likes authority figures but due to their military backgrounds, will follow orders–usually. They both have a moral compass and we’re invited along as they struggle to figure where a given action might lie within their personal code. Of course, not all are a struggle. Some are mandatory either for their own survival or because it’s simply a matter of “justice”. Both are self-confident, except, perhaps, where women are concerned but they respect them and have no patience or use for men who use & abuse. They’re also both highly skilled in their tradecraft, sometimes appearing as cold and hard as those bad guys they’re pursuing.I really like the addition of Ikeda. She’s revealed another side to Trapps’ personality–a softer, nurturing side, at the same time, showing that women can be smart, tough, strong, do just about anything men can and aren’t afraid to show it or to put jerks in their place. They say opposites attract yet we’re continually shown where/how Trapp & Ikeda are alike. It will be interesting to see where these men writers take their primary character’s love interests. Yes. I said love, not lust. There really is a difference as Trapp’s discovering but is it enough to change who you innately are?Unfortunately, the other thing these books have highlighted for me, is just how self-serving, manipulative, outright crooked and greedy our politicians, “public service” authorities and leaders can be– not just ours but all around the globe. These books can be read strictly for their entertainment value, or you can dive a little deeper into personalities and history, drawing corollaries to real life.
