Never Lie
Newlyweds Tricia and Ethan are searching for the house of their dreams. But when they visit the remote manor that once belonged to Dr. Adrienne Hale, a renowned psychiatrist who vanished without a trace four years earlier, a violent winter storm traps them at the estate… with no chance of escape until the blizzard comes to an end.
In search of a book to keep her entertained until the snow abates, Tricia happens upon a secret room. One that contains audio transcripts from every single patient Dr. Hale has ever interviewed. As Tricia listens to the cassette tapes, she learns about the terrifying chain of events leading up to Dr. Hale’s mysterious disappearance.
Tricia plays the tapes one by one, late into the night. With each one, another shocking piece of the puzzle falls into place, and Dr. Adrienne Hale’s web of lies slowly unravels. And then Tricia reaches the final cassette. The one that reveals the entire horrifying truth.

Freida McFadden is incredible. Just when I was convinced I had everything figured out… nope. Not even close. This book is fast, twisty, and completely addictive. The tension keeps building, the clues keep shifting, and every time you think you’re one step ahead, the story pulls the rug out from under you. I genuinely could not put it down, and the reveals had me sitting there like 😳 staring at the wall afterward. It’s one of those thrillers that leaves your jaw on the floor and makes you want to immediately talk about it — without spoiling it for anyone else.Freida McFadden is incredible. Another fun very Freida tale!
I enjoyed this one quite a bit. It has that totally Freida way of convincing you it’s all too obvious… only to pull the rug out from under you with an unexpected twist. I always find her books to be quick, fun, easy, and light reads that pack a twisty punch at the finish.

Fun Read
This was a quick, fun read. There are several twists and turns that will keep you engaged throughout. Freida McFadden is such an entertaining author, best known for The Housemaid. You will not be disappointed in her works.

Spoiler Alert: Not a good plot twist
I’ve read about 10 Frieda McFadden books so far, and I think that everyone can agree that The Housemaid was her best work — which is probably why that book was turned into a movie. But the reason that that book was so good is that McFadden actually plays fair with the audience. In most of her other books, including Never Lie, she doesn’t play fair with the audience.Sure, they’ll still fun to read, but they’re always disappointing because she tricks the audience in an unfair way.SPOILER ALERT:In Never Lie, she goes far beyond the “unreliable narrator” trick that she uses in 95% of her books, and in this book, the narrator is just a complete liar for the vast majority of the book. That’s not a plot twist, that’s just bad writing. Anybody on the planet can write a book like this, because at the very end, all you have to say is “Just kidding! Everything I’ve told you about myself is a lie! Here’s the truth!”It’s the equivalent of “everything was just a dream this entire time”.Frieda McFadden may want to look into the literary concept of “superior positioning”, which is something she never ever ever uses. Frieda only knows from the literary concept of “SURPRISE!”, but the more effective literary tool is “superior positioning”… where the reader knows something that the characters don’t, and the reader is horrifyingly sitting on the edge of their seats while they wait for the characters to find out what the reader already knows. But Frieda always keeps audience members in the dark — and then unfairly tricks them at the end by pulling the rug out from under their feet.If Frieda used superior positioning instead, she would be a much better writer and it would result in much better books.

Very Good Story
I started reading ‘Never Lie’ in early spring of 2025, but due to a busy schedule, I had to put it aside. I simply didn’t have the time to get fully wrapped up in a book the way I like. Today, February 22, 2026, I finally finished the story and absolutely loved it. It held my interest from beginning to end, and I found the character, Tricia, to be darkly and entertainingly fascinating.

Twisty, shocking and unputdownable
Never Lie completely captivated me. I did not see the plot twist coming at all, and when I found out, I literally gasped.

Felt dragged into a world of spur of moment and no other choice.

Never Lie was such a gripping read! I thoroughly enjoyed it and truly didn’t know what to expect. It’s definitely one of my favourite Freida McFadden books so far. The twist at the end was huge and really caught me off guard—I loved the shock factor, though I did wish there had been a few more subtle hints or “easter eggs” sprinkled throughout the story to build up to it.I’m always a fan of the forced proximity trope, so the premise instantly drew me in, and it delivered exactly the tense, claustrophobic atmosphere I was hoping for. Overall, an addictive read that kept me turning the pages right until the end.

Ho letto questo libro in quanto mi è stato consigliato, non amo leggere libri thriller ma questo mi è piaciuto davvero tanto. Sono rimasta sorpresa.
