Verity

A number-one best seller in several categories with over 14,000 five-star ratings on Goodreads.

From the number-one New York Times best-selling and award-winning author Colleen Hoover comes “A stand-alone romantic thriller that is tragic, creepy, and brilliant!” (Mel Reader Reviews)

Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of best-selling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish.

Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity’s notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn’t expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity’s recollection of the night their family was forever altered.

Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate the already grieving father. But as Lowen’s feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit if he were to read his wife’s words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue to love her.

Sexy. Twisted. Consuming.

Due to graphic scenes and mature content, this book is recommended for listeners 18+.

    A must read!!!
I happened to be sick and finally picked up this book that I bought over a year ago, and I’m so glad I did. Verity was an absolute page-turner. I finished it in about 12 hours because I could not put it down. I don’t read often and usually don’t enjoy dense books, but this one was very easy to read and kept my attention the entire time. It was so suspenseful, with just the right amount of romance mixed in, and the ending was absolutely crazy. Overall, I loved this book by Colleen Hoover and would definitely recommend it. A must read.

Twisted, Addictive, and Impossible to Forget
Verity by Colleen Hoover completely blew me away. I know this book has a lot of mixed reviews, but for me, it was an easy five star read. I loved everything about it, the suspense, the thriller elements, the chilling mystery that kept me guessing the entire time. Once I started, there was no putting it down. The atmosphere is tense from the very beginning, and that sense of unease never really lets up. Just when I thought I had things figured out, the story pulled me in another direction. It’s the kind of book that makes you say “just one more chapter”… and suddenly you’re finished because you couldn’t stop. What I appreciated most was how bold the story is. It takes risks, sparks debate, and leaves you thinking long after you turn the last page. Whether you love it or question everything you just read, it definitely makes an impact and that’s what great thrillers should do.I’m already counting down the days until the film adaptation because I can only imagine how intense this story will be on the screen. If you’re looking for a thriller that hooks you instantly and refuses to let go, Verity is absolutely worth the hype. Xo 💋

    Good read-real page turner
Verity was packed with suspense and so many twists and turns that I truly couldn’t put it down. The way Colleen Hoover differentiates between Lowen’s voice and Verity’s manuscript was incredibly well done—it kept me completely engaged and constantly needing to know what was coming next.As a mother, there were moments that genuinely shocked me. The darkness of this story goes deeper than I expected, and there were several times my mouth literally dropped while reading. It’s intense, unsettling, and absolutely gripping. The character development was strong throughout. I felt everything—fear, anxiety, sorrow, even brief moments of happiness. That emotional depth made the thriller aspect hit even harder.Overall, the plot was phenomenal. If you’re looking for a true page-turner or a book to pull you out of a reading slump, this is it. This had been sitting on my TBR for a while, and I’m so glad I finally picked it up. The only piece that left me slightly disappointed was the ending. It definitely leaves you thinking without giving too much away—which I know some readers love—but I personally wanted just a bit more closure.I purchased my copy used from a seller here, and it arrived in perfect reading condition. I love giving books a second life and a new home—there’s something special about that.

    No Spoilers
My goodness — did Hoover deliver with this one. I absolutely could not put it down. Dark, twisted, and dripping with suspense, this book pulls you in and refuses to let go.I was hesitant to read it at first because it’s so different from the genres she’s known for — but wow. This proves her range in the best way. The tension builds relentlessly, the atmosphere is unsettling, and you’re constantly questioning everything as you read. It’s disturbing in that can’t-look-away kind of way and stays with you long after you finish.

    Dark, Disturbing, and Addictive
Verity is honestly a very dark and different kind of book. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, that final letter completely changed everything — WOW. The mystery kept me on my toes the entire time and I couldn’t stop thinking about it even after I finished. I loved the darkness, the twists, and how uncomfortable it made me feel in the best way. Definitely not a light read, but absolutely unforgettable.

I loved this book so much. The plot twist, the characters just kept me glued to it to know what happens next. I’m still conflicted between team manuscript or team letter. When you pick this book up DON’T READ IT AT NIGHT!! It will creep you out. A bit of SPOILER! Verity is an author and is married to Jeremy and they have 3 children but the twins die and things take a turn for the worst. Verity is bed ridden after her accident and can’t finish her remaining 3 series,so Jeremy talks with her publisher to hire another author to finish the series for her and he goes to the meeting where he meets Lowen a small author who just lost her mother and is looking for a job to distract herself. Lowen takes the offer Jeremy has negotiated with her and in order to start the series, she needs to familiarise herself with Verity’s work. Lowen agrees to stay in there house for the weekend to get the notes she needs only to come across Verity’s manuscript that was never to be read by anyone and things take a turn after she realizes she’s is falling for Jeremy and is conflicted whether to give him the manuscrips to read or keep them to herself, what unravels next is shocking,,,It’s a must read for thriller lovers.

It’s an absolute page-turner. I finished it in one sitting because I literally couldn’t stop. The way Colleen Hoover has written this — it’s twisted, gripping, and honestly, kind of insane.Last night, I spent 40 minutes narrating the entire book to 12 friends — and trust me, every single one of them was shocked. That’s the kind of book this is.If you’re in for something intense and unpredictable, pick this up.
