Sucks you right in.
Really enjoyed this book. I got so involved with the characters that when I finished the book it was like I was cut off from my friends. There were a lot of twists and surprises,, but that was part of the beauty of the stories. I will be looking for more books by this author.

Well, we all love nosy-ing about the neighbours, don’t we?!
The book deals with the lives, loves, dramas, histories and inter-actions of three sets of neighbours, all very different, but whose lives and stories interweave nicely. A nice relaxing book for a Summer read, well written, good characterisation and believable story lines – nothing outrageously and ridiculously dramatic.

A good steady read
I really enjoyed becoming involved in the lives of these neighbors. The story was real and showed us the day to day of various lives lived. Perhaps not remarkable lives but still the hope and concern the we all face. It brings understanding and sympathy.

A really good read…..
I really enjoyed the book. Not only did I want to be in that town, but I felt I was there whenever I went back to the story. Roisin Meaney is a very good author. I first read the Daisy Picker and followed up with The People Next Door. I am hooked. I will definitely read more of her books. I was a big fan of Maeve Binchy and this author’s writing is very much the same…..once you start reading it, you become part of the town.

Very good read!
This book is about three families of neighbors. Yvonne is a widow, living with her 20-something daughter, Clara. Dan is separated and takes in Kieran as a roommate. Kathryn and Justin are married, she is several years older than he is, has had several miscarriages, and has her mother in law living with her. All of these neighbors have challenges they face, and they all are very different people in the end of the book vs the beginning. I really enjoyed it. I had a bit of disappointment in the ending, some of the characters had completely different outcomes than I expected, which is a good thing, I just wanted more for them as I cared about them. I recommend this book.

Not your average story
The book goes into the lives of 3 families who live next to each other in their attached townhouses. Each character is believable and interesting and often reminded me of people I knew. Plots can tend to be so mundane and predictable that it is always refreshing to find an author that puts a new spin on things. Throughly enjoyed this book!

Enchanting!
Roisin Meaney writes a wonderful tale about ordinary people living their lives. But oh, how she weaves the story! All the threads woven together exquisitely to make a twisty, didn’t-see-that-coming plot. Fabulous characters you’d love to meet in real life. Go get your copy!

Well written
My latest favorite author. I had a bit of trouble keeping track of who was who and was related to whom until well into the middle. No doubt due to not being able to read it all at once, and reading it on the Kindle where I couldn’t leaf back and check. In spite of that the story was interesting and once I got the hang of it I didn’t need to go back. This is my fourth book by this author, and I have enjoyed each one very much and look forward to reading more .
Loretta Cormier –
I’ve read a few books of Roisin Meaney I give each book 5 stars. I read every book written by Rosamunda Pilcher and Maeve Binchy and I put Roisin in the same category she is a very interesting writer.
Patricia Curnow –
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I felt all the characters were realistic. It made me want to read more novels written by this author

Roisin Meaney and Marian Keyes are my favourites. Strange that I relate to their stories so all, but Roisin writes real characters, lovable, a bit flawed and so down to earth. I enjoyed this book with its plots and little sub plots
Jean Williams –
Roisin Meaney writes in a genre full of love and satisfaction. Her characters live in three red brick joined houses. Their lives unfold and hearts are broken and mended. Such a lovely read, as ever from this talented Irish author. Highly recommended.
