A good read!
Most authors writing this type of thriller have a problem with narrative continuity. One moment the hero is here and the next, mysteriously he’s somewhere else. Then there is the issue of fluff. An otherwise good book is ruined when there are literally pages of inconsequential fluff: i.e., the hero’s childhood, the first time he stubbed his toes,, etc. Then, my favorite: The author’s lack of knowledge about firearms and ballistics. A 9mm hits a guy and propels him back against a wall. A .25 caliber round hits a guy and knocks him over a ship’s railing, etc. Remember a fellow named Newton.This gentleman writes a riveting novel which is easy to follow and technically correct. I know that they are fiction but a little reality helps the narrative. Great reading, thank you sir!

Many roads leading to many ?s & unexpected answers
I began reading this author’s book as a suggestion in my Kindle after reading another thriller series. I had not heard of the author and figured I should take the leap because a previous author series had a similar main character name. I decided to start it and not have any expectations. I figured I would give it 20 pages. I easily surpass those 20 pages and did not want to put it down. I appreciated the details because they tweaked my mind. While, not reading and working, I would consider the how and why certain characters which brought me back to Reading even during my breaks. I enjoyed the storyline and because of the way it ended. I was thankful that the next book was available. The characters have some interesting back stories. Initially I was wondering if this was going to read like Jason Bourne or Mitch Rapp but it did not. If you like thrillers and stories that keep your mind, wondering how characters tied together you will enjoy this.

1st book of the Jadon Drake series. Fast action and high adventure. Author has detailed knowledge of military hardware, procedures and equipment. Interesting and thrilling read as we follow Jason Drakes adventures as he races to stop a terrorist from completing her deadly mission.Looking forward to book 2 in the series – The Assassin’s Game.

Couldn’t put it down
Great story and wonderful storytelling. The book brings you right in like you are there with the characters. I could definitely see a movie adaptation being done with this, I would definitely pay to see it.

Started out well, good action, interesting characters. However got bogged down midway with too much introspection and musings. Also writing- particularly in the second half of book very vanilla and basic. It’s a decent read, but didn’t make me eager to read the next Jason Drake installment.

Great introduction to a “can’t put it down” series
Austin King has created a character, in Jason Drake, who is conflicted between his undying loyalty to his country and his desire to have a normal life. As a covert agent he is ruthless as he, time and again, saves the U.S. from her enemies. Austin King does a great job of developiing Jason Drake as a character who grows and changes as the series progresses. You kind of get to know him causing one to look forward to the next installment. I have read all of the Jason Drake novels and have enjoyed every one. I hope Austin King will grace us with further continuations to his series.

Enjoyed the fast pace of this book. I did wonder at some things such as the craziness of some of the characters (are people in Washington really that crazy?) And some of the actions of these characters and security mistakes. But a good story overall.
