“A mesmerizing tale of love, female friendship, and heroism.” —Lisa Scottoline, #1 bestselling author

A Parisian department store, a mysterious necklace and a woman’s quest to unlock a decade-old mystery are at the center of this riveting novel of love and survival, from New York Times bestselling author Pam Jenoff

London, 1953. Louise is still adjusting to her postwar role as a housewife when she discovers a necklace in a box at a secondhand shop. The box is marked with the name of a store in Paris, and she is certain she has seen the necklace before, when she worked with the Red Cross in Nazi-occupied Europe—and that it holds the key to the mysterious death of her friend Franny during the war.

Following the trail of clues to Paris, Louise discovers the dark history of Lévitan—a once-glamorous department store that served as a Nazi prison—and Helaine, a woman who was imprisoned there, torn apart from her husband when the Germans invaded France. Louise races to find the connection between the necklace, the store and Franny’s death. But nothing is as it seems, and there are forces determined to keep the truth buried forever…

    Last Twilight in Paris
Good read. Well developed characters. Story set in 1943 Paris during WW II. Helaine, with other Jews, imprisoned in department store where furniture & housewares stolen from Jews, sold to German officers. Helaine’s husband, Gabriel, who played cello, had left to play music for German’s. They each wear 1/2 heart necklace. In 1953 England, Louise finds 1/2 heart necklace she recognizes from her time working for Red Cross during war, in German POW camp where her performer friend Franny killed. Louise starts investigating friend’s murder & looks for owners necklace. Two stories intertwine to make intriguing story.

    Great story!
I loved this as a Post Script to WWII, meaning getting to dual a time of war and a few years after the war. I learned some new facts about Paris and the war, and the descriptions are vivid and meaningful. Wonderful characters! The emotions and inner turmoil of these people was genuine. Excellent read.

    Necklace
WW II historical fiction, uplifted by this story that highlights love’s triumph over adversity without delving into the true horror of the holocaust. This introduced me to the fascinating history of Levitan, a renowned dept. store in Paris. Love endured and was beautifully told through 2 different timelines and the mystery of the necklace resolved. A friend of mine had this necklace and I love uncovering the history behind it.⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

    WWII historical fiction
This well researched dual timeline WWII historical fiction included surprising facts about a Paris store transformed into a concentration camp and disguised as a department store catering to Nazi military, selling formerly owned Jewish articles. The women in this story were resilient and resourceful, very compelling characters. The love stories and the angst and post war trauma of the WWII personnel rang true. The necklace mystery was intriguing! I wasn’t prepared for the twist at the end! Another great Pam Jenoff book!
