“This audiobook knocks it out of the park, thanks to its dynamic narration and evocative sound design that elicits the feel of an old-school radio drama. The layered audio elements, like the labored breaths of a character climbing a hill or the howling wind and crashing waves, draw listeners deep into the story’s world. These vivid soundscapes don’t just enhance the atmosphere—they transform the listening experience into something truly cinematic and unforgettable.” — Booklist (Starred Review)

Great Book, Wonderful Characters….
No spoilers. When I read the description for Alice Feeney’s My Husband’s Wife I didn’t need to read the whole thing to know I couldn’t skip it. I’ve read several of Alice’s books and have never been disappointed, but My Husband’s Wife felt like it would one of her best, so I passed on the bargain priced Kindle version and bought the hardcover. The minute I started reading I knew my instincts were spot-on. Such a great book.I started reading My Husband’s Wife around noon on a Sunday and didn’t want to put it down, but reluctantly had to to make dinner for my family. The whole time I cooked and cleaned I thought about the book’s characters, specifically Birdy. I adored Birdy and I don’t typically like “negative” characters. Birdy’s inner negativity forced me to care about her. The way Alice wrote Birdy’s character was so wonderful, making her mysterious, interesting and very human. Birdy is so angry about the hand she was dealt, but you don’t know who, what, when, where, or why because you only get bits and pieces of her story. Birdy is a puzzle…Alice makes us care her without letting us fully understand her, always keeping pieces of the puzzle just out of reach – this is what makes the book so great – the guessing but never really knowing, and you know you don’t know, which rarely happens. Then Birdy becomes a character you didn’t see coming and it’s so wonderful because you’re not even close to the end and still have more than half of the book to read.Sunday evening, when I sat down to continue reading My Husband’s Wife, I had reached the halfway mark and as I read I knew this book had a spot in my list of favorite books. I found myself reading slower, kind of like eating a deliciously heavenly dessert that you don’t want to end but you’re dying to get to the caramel center. I was savoring each page, not wanting it to end, but wanting so badly to know what was going to happen, to finally put all the puzzle pieces together, to see the whole picture and understand the who, what, when, where, and why, which, by the way, was a huge WOW! that was so worth the wait.I finished reading My Husband’s Wife early Monday morning, less than 24 hours after I started it. It is, without question, a page-turner. If life hadn’t forced me to be responsible I would have easily read this book in one sitting. It was so good!Everything about My Husband’s Wife was enjoyable, from the characters, the setting, the storyline, the ending, and finally, to finishing the puzzle and seeing the whole picture. Truly wonderful.Thank you, Alice Feeney, thank you for writing such a terrific book. I look forward to the next one!I absolutely, definitely, without hesitation recommend My Husband’s Wife. If you love psychological thrillers you don’t want to skip this wonderful book.

Solid mystery-lots of twists and turns
My Husband’s Wife by Alice Feeney was not exactly what I was expecting, but it definitely delivered on mystery and deception. The story follows multiple characters and perspectives, which is a unique setup. You hear from Eden — the woman who is supposedly locked out of her own life and home — Harrison, the husband, Birdy, the detective, and Carter, the sergeant. Each chapter builds on the last but from a different character’s point of view. I constantly found myself questioning who Eden really was — or who she could be.The chapters are short, making this a fast and easy read. While many thrillers rely heavily on action, this one focuses more on unraveling secrets and figuring out who Eden Fox truly is and what happened to her. Each chapter is labeled with a name (and sometimes a date), which adds to the suspense and keeps you guessing. There were a few coincidences that made parts of the story feel a little far-fetched — especially having two women claiming to be Eden Fox who closely resembled one another — but I was still fully invested in seeing how everything connected. The last 50 pages really helped solidify how the entire story was tied together. That final chapter absolutely threw me and left me genuinely shocked.Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It has more of a police-investigation mystery feel, with layered perspectives from law enforcement and other key characters. If you enjoy twisty mysteries with lots of secrets and shifting points of view, this is definitely worth the read. Just be prepared to pay close attention!

5 star read for me! Loved it!
This book kept me on my toes the entire time. Just when I thought I figured it out the Author adds another plot twist. It was my first book by Alice Feeney and I definitely want to read more of her books.I enjoyed the writing and, of course, all the twists and turns. What a book! I enjoyed the different POV’s and I felt that kept the book more interesting. I just loved it! If you’re needing a new psychological thriller, you definitely need to add this to your TBR!

A great read, I was hooked throughout, right up to the big reveals towards the end. That’s when the twists started coming thick and fast, it was practically twist overkill. A good book nevertheless

Alice Feeney is an auto-buy author for me- ever since getting hooked by her writing with Sometimes I lie. To say I had arranged my reading schedule in January to ensure that I was not mid-reading another book on release day – is probably testament to just how much I love her writing. I was literally checking my Amazon every few days to confirm the day it would appear on my Kindle as I had pre-ordered it…to say I downloaded it the minute it was available and started reading it is no exaggeration. I was also delightfully surprised to have my pre-ordered signed special edition from Bertsbooks in the UK arrive the day after release date. It is so pretty and after carefully looking through it I put it straight onto my trophy bookshelf sprayed edge out where I could admire its beauty whilst reading my Kindle copy.- hopefully this introduction into my review doesn’t trigger any “I am your Number 1 fan” Misery moments. As much of a fan as I am. I would always be honest and give my thoughts on this book even if I hadn’t completely devoured and loved every single moment of reading it! This was another amazing read from Alice Feeney and it surpassed my expectations and they were pretty high! I love how she always leaves us tiny breadcrumbs throughout the story and how its only after you finish the book and you think about it that you start to see the breadcrumbs. This was yet another twisty psychological thriller reader that I could not put down, but when I absolutely had to, I found myself dying to get back to it and wondering what the characters were doing and just what was going on that I was not picking up on.It was pure thriller writing perfection for me- the atmospheric setting of the Cornish coast, the relatable and flawed characters- from the first chapter I was very invested in working out just what was going on. As a seasoned Feeney reader, I was thinking maybe this time she wouldn’t blow my mind with any twists – because surely by now I would be able to work out what was going on…ummm yeah no, Alice blew my mind again with this book. It was a heart stopping, addictive read and exceeded all of my expectations. Its only early in the year but this one I can confidently say is one of my best reads of 2026- of not the absolute best. #alicefeeney #myhusbandswife #flatironbooks #pineandcedar #macmillan #goodreads #tea_sipping_bookworm #fable #thestorygraph #getlitsy #thriller #bestbookof2026 #bertsbooks #bookqueen #bookstagram

Feeney does it again and again and again. Too good. A pageturner. She just knows how the readerwill think and inspite of knowing she does that, as a reader it is still not easy to predict.
