A POPSUGAR BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR
We don’t always get to choose our paths in life; sometimes they choose us.
After fleeing an abusive husband with her six-year-old son, Tommie, Beverly is attempting to create a new life for them in a small town off the beaten track. Despite their newfound freedom, Beverly is constantly on guard: she creates a fake backstory, wears a disguise around town, and buries herself in DIY projects to stave off anxiety. But her stress only rises when Tommie insists he’d been hearing someone walking on the roof and calling his name late at night. With money running out and danger seemingly around every corner, she makes a desperate decision that will rewrite everything she knows to be true. . . .
Meanwhile, Colby Mills is on a heart-pounding journey of another kind. A failed musician, he now heads a small family farm in North Carolina. Seeking a rare break from his duties at home, he spontaneously takes a gig playing in a bar in St. Pete Beach, Florida, where he meets Morgan Lee—and his whole life is turned upside-down.
The daughter of affluent Chicago doctors, Morgan has graduated from a prestigious college music program with the ambition to move to Nashville and become a star. Romantically and musically, she and Colby complete each other in a way that neither has ever known.
In the course of a single unforgettable week, two young people will navigate the exhilarating heights and heartbreak of first love. Hundreds of miles away, Beverly will put her love for her young son to the test. And fate will draw all three people together in a web of life-altering connections . . . forcing each to wonder whether the dream of a better life can ever survive the weight of the past.

Loved this & the twist!
My only wish woulda been for about a 5 page happy epilogue about 20-30 years later. When I’ve been marathon devouring & I’m so stoked at the development, then turn the page to nothing and inadvertently yell, NOOOO!!! It’s absolutely an excellent story!Although ahem, pardon this Nebraska Sandhills accidental gypsy, wee bit hippie, somewhat hillbilly, real farmgirl… has a minor protest over the cover… after REALLY looking at the cover again after seeing Nicholas’ web page and new cover reveal, then coming back to study this one….I’ve been blessed to be in North Carolina 5 times, from the west end all the way to the private beaches in Camp Lejeune. Iiiiiii recall no “wide open plains”, of wheat no less, lol. The aesthetic accuracy side of me discarded tobacco and tomato fields as a possible appeal. Cotton even ready to harvest wouldn’t give that golden glow with the sunset. Then again the only stretch I saw that was this remotely “open for miles” was the Atlantic Ocean, lolI could be wrong as I can’t say I’ve seen every inch of NC. Buuut given the title AND that dreams are the point, it gets a pass. But… but… on even closer inspection… an old school farmer that continues to do his own repairs could certainly be deliciously long and lanky, but his arms would never be this scrawny, lol… sorry I know it’s quasi ridiculous (the original definition) but it bears noting. Not Arnold Schwarzenegger built but definitely not “office job” thin. Jus sayin 🤷♀️Bottom line: Once I realized the significant importance given to Sparks covers… Wheat and a flatland sunset works. But “Colby” on the cover does an injustice to the character and farmers overall. Plus I so, soooo wish there’d been that epilogue….As for the story itself, I’ll not be a spoilsport!! But I will say it keeps you stunningly spinning possibilities of how it’ll tie together! Particularly excellent at depicting from the inside (yep, I know that life too) how someone, particularly a woman with children, ends up where they are and how they got there. Those who callously state the inevitable well why didn’t she just leave, can really learn something here! Especially those with LEO partners. Fortunately I was not quite that unlucky, but I’ve seen it firsthand and it’s a devastating combination of the highest level of danger. Well, well done on taking this angle and clearly having researched it indepth! Colby’s “break” with the wonder and sheer fun of his unexpected venture contrasted absolute delight and such enjoyable reading! The blend was so well obscured until it happened that it was a Ken Follet-esque twist that delightfully kept me engrossed and guessing until the moment of reveal. Which is so rare for me in most mysteries. It made for an extra wonderful gift! If you are a fan of mystery, unlikely happenstance, romance, intrigue and love in its purest form, don’t hesitate to jump on this!~ OzarkLdy ❤️

Page-turner!!!
I love love Nicholas Spark’s books. Such an amazing writer and this doesn’t disappoint. He develops his characters so thoroughly, I feel as though I know them. And yet creates so many twists and turns you don’t expect. Superb❣️❣️❣️

it was better toward the end
Just when I as very confused about how all of this story was going to come together, there was a surprise! I liked the book overall, but not his best
Charles Collins –
great story
Sparks has a definite insight into real emotion and how it responds to the realities of life. This story weaves the very real tragedies that far too many people experience through mental illness, into a bittersweet trail that can only be reached by a commitment to character, faithfulness, and an ever present willingness to love despite the obstacles.

Great read
No holes Sparks always writes a story that just grabs you from the first few pages. I loved how he wove the life’s of the different characters together. The way he spoke of his sister’s condition was so heartfelt and reminds us that those with this condition are people. Looking to read more from him.

A book like no other!
It took me a minute to get what the story really was? But I loved how it all came together beautifully!
Donna L Filipowski –
Wonderful Read!
Loved this book… hard to put down. The two storylines were captivating, each in their own unique way. Nicholas Sparks always seems to deliver… never disappointed.

Balancing personal dreams and family obligations
Colby Mills heads out for his first ever week long vacation (even if it’s a working vacation) playing some gigs at a bar in Florida from his small family owned farm in North Carolina. While there he meets and falls for Morgan Lee, a well-to-do and upcoming Tik Tok entertainer on her way to Nashville, vacationing with friends of hers. This is a story of Colby and Morgan’s romance but also of families and family obligations. There is also a third character in the story on the run from her abusive husband – but the reader doesn’t get to see how all the storylines tie together until later in the book.I enjoyed this offering by Sparks but have mixed feelings about it. I especially liked Colby’s character; Morgan’s didn’t come across as too likeable. Quite a few of Sparks’ books I will re-read. This doesn’t happen to be one of them.

Great book…the book falls under romantic and domestic fiction genre. But its a very differently written book from any other romantic fiction that ive so far read. It would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read a fiction.

Cliente Amazon –
Good book, but not my favorite of Nicholas Sparks the global bestseller.May be better as a storyboard for a movie…
Jude2go –
As usual Nicholas Sparks delivers a great and engaging storyline. I couldn’t put it down at times. Always enjoy his books.
