Silver – And The Sunday Cypher: The new Carlyle & Silver Cozy Mystery from the New York Times #1 Bestseller (Carlyle & Silver Cozy Mysteries)

“It’s like Steed and Mrs Peel meets Murder She Wrote!”

A dead husband. A secretive stranger. And a nosy widow with a knack for murder.

When Laura Carlyle left behind high society for committee meetings and quiet cups of tea, she never imagined her next guest would bring gossip, grief — and a murder.

Rebecca Farrell is certain her husband didn’t just drop dead. And Laura’s late husband, an ex-civil servant with far too many secrets, taught her exactly how to spot a lie.

Luckily (or not), help arrives in the form of Sebastian Silver — silver-haired, sharp-suited, and possibly a conman. He knows things about Harry Farrell that no one else does. The question is: can he be trusted?

From cosy drawing rooms to candlelit crypts, Laura’s genteel corner of Kensington hides more than just scandal — it hides a mysterious cabal of killers. And if Laura keeps poking around, she might be the next victim…

The first book in a new series of Carlyle & Silver cozy mysteries by#1 New York Times bestselling writer Tony Lee writing as Jack Gatland, Silver – And The Sunday Cypher is perfect for fans of Richard Osman, SJ Bennett, Agatha Christie and Agatha Raisin — a sharp, charming mystery with secrets, spies, and suspicious tea trays.

    A great story
I had been putting off reading this because it was a new story line from one of favorite authors but I know sometimes you can be disappointed. This does not disappoint at all. I was hooked from the first paragraph. Great story line, characters and action. I love it.

    Fun to Read
I enjoyed reading this book on my vacation in Honduras. It’s light and fun and even has a bit of humor. Perfect for a beach read and you genuinely like the characters. I’m going to read the next book in the series.

Great beginning to a new series
This book grabs your attention from page 1 and just keeps on going. Lots of twists and turns. The ending is great and can’t wait to read the next one.

Jack Gatland needs to write more of these – FAST
After wading through an incredibly tedious Dan Brown offering “Siver And The Sunday Cypher” is delightfully refreshing. While both books feature improbable premises one is ponderous and 5 times longer than it needs to be, and the other is fast paced, humerous and I find myself sorry that I’m already 51% through it. The characters in “Siver And The Sunday Cypher” are bright, witty and easy to like – I like them enough that I don’t even care about the mystery, I just want to read more about Silver, Laura and Aunt Celia. A good bit of the repartee is laugh out loud funny and Aunt Celia is priceless!

    A lot of fun!
This was a lot of fun. There were twists I did not see coming…and I’m usually good at spotting them. I look forward to the next book!

    Great Read Until
As I started reading this book I thought awesome and fantastic cozy mystery with all elements I enjoy- great characters, interesting story line and author who does not need to rely on cursing up a storm to feel their book is interesting! Unfortunately as I’m halfway through the book with zero cursing the author has to use the Lords name in vein so I hit the delete button.

“The Thames moved past with its ancient indifference to human drama”. A beautiful line in a story that certainly gives The Thursday Murder Club a run for its money. I loved the liquorice stick twists and the great characters. Number 2 on pre-order!

Endearing, fun, engrossing and a different style in the writing and environment to his other series. Such a great writer.

This is the first book by this author that I have read. Maybe his other series are good but I am afraid I did not enjoy this book. I found parts hard to believe and unrealistic. This is just my view, others may enjoy it.

Lovely interesting characters and a good albeit sometimes confusing storyline! I got so wound up in the drama, I finished the book in a day! Thoroughly enjoyable 😊
