The Bookstore Sisters (The Once Upon a Time Bookshop Stories)
An Amazon Charts bestseller
From New York Times bestselling author Alice Hoffman comes a heartfelt short story about family, independence, and finding your place in the world.
Isabel Gibson has all but perfected the art of forgetting. She’s a New Yorker now, with nothing left to tie her to Brinkley’s Island, Maine. Her parents are gone, the family bookstore is all but bankrupt, and her sister, Sophie, will probably never speak to her again.
But when a mysterious letter arrives in her mailbox, Isabel feels herself drawn to the past. After years of fighting for her independence, she dreads the thought of going back to the island. What she finds there may forever alter her path—and change everything she thought she knew about her family, her home, and herself.

Endearing Story About Grief & Love
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I began this book. I was thinking about my sister, my mom, and our love for books. It was my nostalgia that made me select it, but what an endearing story and fitting to my emotions!I loved the journey these sisters took. It was more powerful with the addition of Johnny and Violet. Their loss, grief, and the love that sustained them were realistic, making the story poignant. The book was a quick read, but it packed an emotional punch. I easily turned off my editor’s brain to be lost in the marsh and the journey of the sisters. It connected with me, which I think will happen for other readers, too.

Good stories with serious emotions
This is the first in a series of books; each book is a short story. What you need to know up front is that the major theme of this series is grief and loss. It is very well done, the characters learn to live with grief and memories and find peace in their lives. Just be aware of some serious emotional content. The characters are well written and the stories develop through the four books. Some events are predictable but there are still surprises to keep the reader interested in the books. I enjoyed these books, for short stories they were very satisfying.

OMG
This snippet of a story was incredible. I had put in my Kindle bookshelf months ago. I love any book that has book in the title. I happened to run across it early yesterday morning, say around 4 am. I’m one of those bookish chicks that’s sleep with her Kindle. OMG this novella back an emotional punch for me. Having lost my amazing mother in 2016, God rest her beautiful soul and being super close to my sister I was touched by this story. I loved it. I loved every word. Every description and every character. I didn’t think it was possible to adore a novella, but as The Monkees sing but I’m a change the lyrics and say the I read a page now Im a believer 😘. Just perfection. Im on to the next Installment. Why did I wait so long?

Pretty good. A sweet short story about sisters finding themselves and remembering the love they once shared. I enjoyed it.

Sisters
Isabel moved to New York and left behind her sister Sophie, her parents and the family bookstore. When she gets a letter asking for help, she returns to the island to help her sister. Isabel wants to sell the bookstore but Sophie and her daughter want to keep it running because it’s such an important part of their small community. Who will win?I love books about sisters and this group of books was all about the love between sisters. Despite what is going on in their worlds, they are always there for each other. It’s also a book about family and finding your place in life with the help of your family

A sweet short story about estranged sisters, books, forgiveness and transformation. It also has a dog! There is a lot going on in this story, and although it is complete, I would have liked to know more about each character. Considering the length, it is well written. I especially loved the dog and the eleven-year-old. I see there are two more books in the series which I have put on my TBR list.
