I can always depend on ATK for delicious recipes. Occasionally too many steps in instructions occasionally over complicated but all in all best most reliable recipes.

This is one HUGE BOOK! If you have back issues, hum… It weighs a ton. There’s well over a Thousand pages! It’s packed with more information than most people will ever need to know how to make wonderful dishes and full meal. Best of all, the have a whole large chapter on equipment and products they use and have found to be the best for their recipes. The equipment they review is worth the price alone. For each item, the give at least one better model and one that will still work quite well for the money. My only gripe is that personally, for as much information as this book packs, it should have been done in at least 2 or even 3 volumes. The weight alone has made it quite hard for my wife to use. All that aside, it is a fantastic book!

This HUGE book may be the only cookbook you ever need!
This is HUGE book and heavy enough that I am now ordering a large book stand so I can keep it propped up in the kitchen. I’ve spent a happy hour or two just looking at the first couple of chapters and it will take me months just to review it all. It is extremely comprehensive and contains ALL the recipes from the show’s 23 seasons. We enjoy the show and now I don’t have to look up or try to write down all the recipes I want to try. This book was a recommendation of a friend who went to cooking school and uses this for reference most often, so I figured that was as good a recommendation as we could get, and was not disappointed. Great price for such a gigantic, complete book!

I’ve been a fan of ATK probably since around the time it started and turned on my sister to it soon after. I’ve bought her a couple of these books over the years and enjoyed watching her paging thru them while sitting on the couch looking out at her northern minnesota winter. This book was on her list for the Christmas this year, so i ordered it last prime event.When the “fitted” box arrived, i had no idea what amazon had sent, trying to remember what i ordered. When i opened the box, i laughed out loud – literally! The size of this thing is ridiculous – is it a cookbook or is it an encyclopedia? did anyone at ATK maybe wonder if their 22 year compendium should be published in a couple or three volumes, maybe come in a sleeve to hold the volumes? how nice would that have been? i’m reminded of Adam Ried laughing quizically when he tested frying pans (i believe?) at how heavy one of them was – “and that’s before anything is in it!” as bridget struggled to lift it with 2 hands. i can only wonder what adam would say about this behemoth if he was reviewing cookbooks – “you’ll need to have 2 hands to handle the book and another free for the ingredients?” as bridget looks askance.i gave it 4 stars bc i’m confident the content is outstanding. but it loses a star bc my poor sister only has 2 hands.it’s 8 pounds and 1250 pages. did anyone at ATK ask?! c’mon? or maybe i just thought it would be something one could snuggle up to and absorb.

If you can only buy one cookbook, buy this one!
I have been a fan of America’s Test Kitchen since I was a child, so when I saw this in a bookstore recently I had to have it. I ended up ordering on Amazon because it was cheaper, but even at full price I would consider it worth every penny.For the price, you get tons of recipes, 22 years worth. I like the clear, easy to follow instructions, and the short paragraph explaining some information about the recipe and its development. I also appreciate the judicious use of pictures because as much as I like to see pictures of nice looking food, it’s probably not going to turn out in my kitchen the way it does on ATK anyway. The collection of recipes also includes a diverse array of cuisine so there is always going to be something new to try and the ingredients are almost always something one can easily access in US supermarkets. So far, I haven’t seen any that require schlepping around for specialty ingredients.Another great thing they added was a section on product recommendations and taste test winners. I really liked these segments on ATK and would often google their recommendations when I was in the market for a new kitchen implement, but now it’s all in one place. Even if their recommended product is out of my price range, they have a “what to look for” column that can help guide shopping and purchase decisions.So, I can’t recommend this product enough. It would be a great purchase for anyone who likes ATK, likes to cook, or someone who is learning how to cook for themselves.

My ultimate favorite cookbook
Bought the 5th edition to this book 15yrs ago. Absolutely loved it. But unfortunately it suffered water damage. So I had it replaced it with a new edition, because for the life of me. Could not find an older edition. I wasn’t happy about how many of the step by step pages from the older edition didn’t exist in the newer edition (understandable, as the book is huge as it is). But I can not even begin to explain how much I love this cookbook. The recipes r always on point and even if I tweet a recipe here or there (personal taste preferences). This book still manages to teach me something new. For instance I’ve made stir fry before. But I never thought certain ingredients could be combined and taste well, or get a specific texture with my stir fry. Made a peanut salad sauce, my husband ate all the salad. Thank god I have more salad to use for another recipe. 😆 🤣The banana bread? Is just fabulous.Can not express enough how I miss the barbecue chapter of the older edition. For instance, how to set a barbecue, and how to properly set a smocker, or what cut of meat vs how long it should cook and what part of the grill it should be. Listen, if u don’t like clutter, and having a ton of cookbooks. Just buy this one. Its like having every cookbook under the sun. They literally take u all around the world.

I like that this book has all the scientific explanations of why something works or does not work, i.e. adding a bit of water to eggs to scramble, to loosen the protein. This book is huge and has loads of great recipes. I haven’t cooked anything with it yet but some friends and I are going to do a potluck style meal where we test out recipes. The recipes are well laid out and easy to follow. Not every recipe has a photo which doesn’t bother me (though I do love seeing photos of the completed recipes). Some recipes, though, include photos of the different steps which I really appreciate. I collect cookbooks and this will make a wonderful addition to my collection. I can predict that this one will get a lot of use. I would recommend this cookbook.

So far, I’ve had this book for a few weeks and have to say I’ve made 20 recipes and every one worked out perfect. I’m not big on breakfast because I didn’t know a lot of things to make and the internet isn’t always a help, but this book has given me ideas since I got it. It’s heavy and has recipes that are amazing and well planed from start to finish. I love the science and their sections for every recipe of why this works. I have been cooking and baking for 50 years and am learning new things from this book. It’s worth the money and if you normally order in, get this instead, then you’ve paid for amazing meals instead. Just saying…
