The Vivaldi Cipher (Vatican Secret Archive Thrillers)
During the election of a new Pope in the mid-18th century, famed violinist Antonio Vivaldi learns of a ring of art forgers who are replacing the Vatican’s priceless treasures with expertly-painted fakes. Desperate, the composer hides a message in a special melody, hoping someone, someday, will take down the culprits . . .
Nearly three hundred years later, the confession of a dying Mafia Don alerts a Venetian priest to a wealth of forged paintings in the Vatican Museum, and the key to their identities lies hidden in a puzzling piece of music. Father Michael Dominic, prefect of the Secret Archives, investigates, and is mystified when he finds a cipher in an old composition from Vivaldi. Desperate to stop this centuries-long conspiracy, he calls on fellow sleuth Hana Sinclair and Dr. Livia Gallo, a music cryptologist, to help him crack the code and learn the truth.
But the Camorra, a centuries-old Italian Mafia clan, won’t stand by while some interfering priest ruins their most lucrative operation. Along with a French commando and two valiant Swiss Guards, Dominic explores the dark canals and grand palazzos of Venice to uncover the evidence he needs to stop the sinister plot. Can he unearth it in time, or will the Church’s most valuable artworks fall prey to this massive conspiracy?
If you love James Rollins, Steve Berry, and Lee Child, you may lose sleep over this impossible to put down thriller! Packed with historical events and non-stop action, readers will be burning through pages late into the night. McAvoy’s fans say his “attention to detail makes the story utterly believable, leaving the reader wondering what is real and what is fiction.”

Great thriller!
THE VILVALDI CIPHER by GARY McAVOY!!!!As many of you know my two favorite genres are horror and fantasy. Well I also love a good thriller/mystery with historical elements to it as well. I decided to check this book out because I was seeing a lot of hype about it all over social media. It caught my interest and tried it out. This is book one in a 10 book series, that follows a priest by the name of Michael Dominic and fellow sleuth Hana Sinclair who have to solve a mystery and stop what has been going on for over 300 years! This book involves a clue that was created by Italian composer Antonia Vivaldi, who knew a secret and through his music was the only way to let it out. What’s sad is, it took 300 years before anyone figured it out.Other important items in this story are the mob, the Vatican, the art world, and of course Vivaldi. This book is very fast paced and such a fun read to figure out what is going on and how they are going to stop it all from happening any longer.I am hooked now and will have to get the other nine book! If you love a good mystery then definitely check this banger out!!!! I loved it!!!!
Charles McSorley –
Very interesting take on the art world
This is a great story although I found it hard to fathom a priest in the lead role. All it needed was a guest appearance by Gabriel Allon.

Engaging and fun to read
Cleverly conceived and well written story about an art heist in the Vatican, and how it was brought to an end. Lots of action, and historical facts. Fun to read.

Art, Good Guys and Bad Guys
A really exciting story with secret codes, bad guys, good guys, cops, and action. Really as good as any James Bond story. Character development progresses from previous books and within the plot of this one. As part of a series, or as a one off, just for the fun of it; McAvoy does not disappoint.

Entertaining read
Even though the plot line bounced around a bit it was an entertaining lightweight read.
Sharrohn –
enlightening take on the Catholic Church
First time I’ve read this author. McAvoy is enthralled with an overly opulent lifestyle, name checking expensive wines and unnecessarily describing food that is inaccessible to most people in the world. And always with the beautiful people descriptions. Ugh. No more McAvoy for me.

An Art Lovers Dream
As a lover of the arts and a student of the history of these majestic works, I found myself absorbed by the story and often pausing and looking up mentioned pieces and researching their history. Fantastic characters and many unexpected turns and twists. Bravo !!

I Couldn’t Put it Down….
I read the entire book as soon as I received it. I’ve never been to Venice and appreciated the descriptions of this beautiful city. The story was suspenseful. I studied art history, so this was a great read for me. The element of melding it with a musical cipher to decode a long history of crimes was fascinating. It blended some factual events with fiction; the author revealing which events were true and where liberties were taken at the end of the book.
Mark Crowther –
Another brilliant book by this author. I wasnt sure what to expect as it was a different series, but as the author said, there is very little difference between this series and the Magdalene Chronicles, full of twists and turns, great storyline, love how the characters are all connected to eachother, well wrote. Brilliant
John Galt –
This was my first McAvoy book and I was terribly disappointed. Not with the concepts, ideas and storyline but with the writing itself. The writing was pedestrian at best maybe even childish. My first and last Gary McAvoy book.
Ricardo Martins –
Livro muito bom. História envolvente e bem concebida. Recomendo a leitura. De fato muito interessante e bem concebida. Vale a pena.

What a great book. Having been a Clive Cussler fan for quite a while now I was looking for something a little different but still as adventurous and boy did this hit the mark. I can’t wait to read the next one in the series.
