The Assassin’s List: An Adam Drake novel (The Adam Drake Series Book 1)
Radicalized in prisons, recruited and trained to be deadly assassins, they’re invisible, working menial jobs no one notices.
A silent army is assembled to avenge the martyrs killed by US drones. The plan is to publicly kill a long list of VIPs, starting with someone close to the American president.
Before the killing begins, Adam Drake, an attorney and former Delta Force Tier 1 operator, is assigned to a CEO of a defense contractor, whose assistant was murdered in his office.
Drake becomes suspicious of the IT security firm that has access to the building.
When the FBI ignores his warning, he’s forced to rely on his own skills to protect the Secretary of Homeland Security and his client from attack during a public ceremony.
Now the assassins add Drake to their list, targeting him and the only family he has left.
A fast-paced, action-packed thriller with a plot that could be tomorrow’s headline.

international crime thriller
Hillsboro, OR. Martin Research campus. Mrs. Janice Lewellyn (ex. secretary) was not thinking about her ovarian cancer but the trip to Maui for a quick vacation before starting chemo.Janice wanted to know what Kaamil Sayf (International Security & Information Services) was doing in Mr. Martin (CEO) office. She would not be going on a vacation.Senator Hazelton (husband, former father-in-law, OR, Senate Intelligence Committee chair), called Adam Drake (attorney, JD, widower, US Army Delta Force vet) asking for a favor.Meredith Hazelton (wife, former mother-in-law) greeted Adam at the door.Dinner a few drinks, & Richard Martin (Martin research CEO) arrived & was introduced to Adam.Barak Boca Daimari beach (Caribbean Sea). Why was Malik (aka David Barak, leader) meeting with Ryan (contact)?Risk Management & Corporate Security. Adam met with Sam Newman (50+, Richard’s brother-in-law,RM & CS head) & got his input.Kaamil was next on his list. What happened to Sam?ISIS Pacific NW Regional Training Facility. Roberto Valencia (Latino, ex-inmate, former lieutenant)went in, but Adam never saw him come back out.Drake went to Pastor Steve. He knew a lot about Western culture. What were Kaamil (lieutenant, assassin, terrorist), & Malik (aka David Barak) discussing?Would Drake complete another mission?I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written international thriller book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a huge set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great action movie, or better yet a mini TV series. To be continued. A very easy rating of 5 stars.Thank you for the free author; Pedernales Publishing, LLC.; Guardsman Publishing; EBookStage; Amazon Digital Services LLC.; bookTony Parsons MSW (Washburn)

Good Fun!
Smart, fast, swift, well written and well thought out, The Assassin’s List is a first rate thriller, and an excellent introduction to a new hero to join the ranks of Mitch Rapp and the like.

This novel will make you think about the future of America.
This novel is terrifying. It brings to reality that maybe the war on terrorism has moved to America on a much higher level than any of us suspect. Of course the author wants his readers to experience the thrill of this chilling story. But, reading it made me want to move somewhere else. I was born in America and love my country. To see it and our people attacked with such cold nonchalance is impossible to understand. That said, I still read this book without too much downtime in between chapters. It’s compelling and one of those novels that sent my mind into high gear. This is possibly since the characters, the story and the present day setting all came together to make it more believable than I was prepared for.The main character is truly a hero and I loved his way of thinking quick with absolute skill. Basically, he is just an unassuming guy. But when he is called to action, he does become a superhero. There is only one part of the story that was worrisome to me. Adam Drake introduces his faithful, extremely well trained dog, Lancer, who assists him in shutting down an attack on his home. There is a time when Adam leaves to take care of business. Aside from leaving food and water for the dog, he goes away and does not return for perhaps as long as a week or more. I worried about the dog and who would care for him. I kept on reading hoping that I would learn Adam had provided for Lancer in some way. Still, the novel ended and left me wanting to continue with the storyline. I plan on reading the other books in the series. I hope I see Lancer in the next book.

A Chilling and Realistic Story
I am a 66 year old lady senior citizen. I was reading books like the Robert Ludlum’s Jason Bourne books long before they made them into movies so these Adam Drake books really caught my interest because they were as exciting and as suspenseful as the Bourne books were. I got the first book, The Assassin’s List, for free but went ahead at that time and bought the second one in the series. Before I even finished the first book I knew I was going to want the whole series so I went ahead and downloaded the 3rd book so I could continue to read all the books straight through without having to stop–that is just how good these books are.I know that I am suppose to be reviewing the first book but I am in the middle of the 3rd book already & it is hard to review just one of these books since they all inspire the same thoughts and feelings in each book. These books are so chilling because everything mentioned in these books are so plausible that I can really see this happening in the US. The gist of these stories are about terrorist targeting the US on our own soil–very realistic ideas that in reality could happen right here–especially with the attitude our government has toward protecting our boarders and their attitude toward terrorist–labeling them as random criminals instead of labeling them for what they are–terrorist! It would not surprise me at all if some of the plots in these books have not already been tried by homegrown terrorist right here in the US and that our government has covered it up so that we are not aware of what is really happening around us. Read these books and see if you don’t agree with me that these plots are chilling and you believe realistically that it could well happen here just as described in these books. I know I did not describe the story itself, but I feel others here will do a much better job of it than I can.

The Assassin’s List by Matthews is a great read but not at bedtime. The book is action-packed and though you know Adam Drake is going to win, you don’t know how or where the threats are coming from. The main antagonist is rarely in the picture but Drake knows he is somewhere and the next book should find him. Drake is well-supported by his ex Delta Force mate, Mike, and Margo in the office. His biggest raison d’etre is his father-in-law whom he must defend at all costs. It would make a good movie with all the pyrotechnics.

I enjoyed reading this Fiction .May be an Eye Opener for the Sleeping Giant USA ,backed by Secret Services ,FBI etc etc .The Theme of an Internal Enemy is Good and may pave way for the Investigating Agencies to concentrate on likely lines .With so much Terrorism ,Especially affecting India from Pakistan ,America must Wake up .
