One Lie: An poignant family drama with a heart-stopping twist

An emotional domestic drama that will keep you up all night, perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell and Jojo Moyes.

Alexander Burke and his wife Olivia had it all: a happy marriage, a lovely home in London, and a bright teenage daughter. But one fateful decision shattered their perfect world, leaving devastation in its wake.

That was ten years ago.

Now Alexander lives alone, haunted by ‘The Incident’ that cost him everything. Resigned to his lonely existence, he has given up hope of redemption. Until one morning, he saves a stranger’s life. For the first time in years, Alexander dares to believe that healing might be possible.

But as the past resurfaces and old wounds reopen, Alexander learns that redemption comes at a price, and the consequences of his choices may be far from over.

One Lie is an emotionally charged family drama about the choices we make, the lies we keep hidden, and the secrets that can tear us apart.

    Boring
Book moves things along at a very slow pace. Repetitive. There are several ridiculous coincidences. I skipped a lot of pages and didn’t miss a thing. Plus, the story was not interesting.

Sanctimonious, predictable, old fashioned, moralistic. Jon Rance should stick with comedies. He’s really good at those.

Wow, what a book. The story is sad and at the same time beautiful. It is so well written and impossible to guess where the story is going. Wonderful and sad at the same time.

This book is a lot darker than the previous by Jon Rance, but it’s nevertheless very well written and I found myself eagerly devouring it page after page. The dual timeline adds mystery and guesses as the stories of the characters unfold. I must admit I wasn’t much surprised by the ending although I had hoped until the very last page that I’d got it wrong. This is not my usual genre, but I loved it.

A very interesting and captivating family drama with lessons to learn. It was difficult to put this book down and do other things.
