This books grabs you from page one, and it takes you for a ride. It shows you that everyone has secrets and how friendships can be tested. I will definitely recommend.

This story us told from three different perspectives, three women, mothers, best friends for over thirty years, victims mourning the ‘incident’ between their teenage sons. It involved a gun and left one boy dead, one in a coma, and the other so traumatized he doesn’t speak. The little bit of information they have makes no sense, it doesn’t illicit the tragedy that occurred. Detective Locke digs, prying for the truth, but these parents have secrets of their own they’re trying to hide and they certainly are not going to help place their own child in the seat of a criminal.The character development is so in-depth and realistic. Each mother’s life is a partially put-together puzzle–some pieces missing, some torn or broken, some thrown away, others tucked away where, hopefully, no one will ever find them. On the surface, to everyone else, the seem so normal, happy, free of any problems bigger or deeper than forgetting a lasagna in the oven or grabbing the wrong kind of milk at the grocery storebut the deeper the investigation digs into what happened, the more and more that becomes farther from the truth. There is so much going on in each of these women’s lives, the suspenseful twists never cease. You feel for these women and what they’re going through but you also want to reach into the pages and shake them, yelling wake up, stop being ignorant. You also get glimpses into what was going on between their boys leading up the incident. It’s heart wrenching.The ending is an emotional typhoon. My heart was racing, fingers clutching my Kindle. And then BOOM! Absolutely blown away. You will not disappointed with this book. Berry outdid herself. This may be her best work yet.

Three friends. Three sons. Two Shots. One tragedy.Wow! This story hit close to home for so many reasons. I actually had to put it down for a couple days because I have three sons (16,17, and 18) and one got in a car accident and it was just too much. But I picked it up when my head was in a better place and I finished it. I love the drama aspect of the book along with trying to figure out wth happened.I related to a character or two in the book but, sadly, they didn’t seem to develop past that. I usually can remember characters and who is with who but it just didn’t happen here. Trying to remember who’s kid is who’s was a lot harder then I had hoped. Also, they kept referring to the night they don’t talk about and it killed me we never got to hear what that was.I love multiple POV’s. That’s my jam and this book did not disappoint. Though I just felt like something was missing. It was a good story and the secrets that came out gave some good drama.I have heard so many good things about this author so I had to try her out. This book was good. Maybe I expected a little more but I finished it. I have other books to read by this author and though this one wasn’t perfection I have high hopes for the others.

Dani, Kendra, and Lindsey have been friends since elementary school. They have faced many difficult things together as they grew up,but nothing like this! This is unimaginable! Their sons, who are also very close, have had a terrible accident. Or was it an accident? One boy is dead, one is in a coma, and another is traumatized so badly that he can’t even speak. What really happened the night of the accident? One thing is for certain: things are not as they seem!This is a wonderful book, a real page-turner! The characters are all quite authentic, and they take the reader through their tumultuous emotions as each faces the unimaginable. The plot contains many surprises, the kind that makes the reader say to herself, “I should have seen that coming!” This is a fun read!

Great character development. Intriguing storyline on a subject that is sadly more relevant than any other time in our history.Loved the author’s writing style! Descriptive without going into too much detail or fluff. Excellent pacing. Highly recommend Lucinda Berry!

read/listened to this one for less than 12 hours. this was a read that i couldn’t put down, i was so invested.THE ENDING! THE ENDING! that’s all i got to say and why this book really earned its 5 stars.the love triangle(s) = 10/10loved how the boys relationships and the girls relationships really tied together. very well written!

Lucinda never disappoints. I enjoyed this and the tension between the multiple families. The epilouge wasnt needed though. I finished this faster than i have many books so far this year.

The third I’ve read by this author and by far my favourite. I really enjoyed this a great deal. AND I only spotted one error the whole way through, which may not be considered so in America. She wrote queued twice and not cued. So that made it even more of a delight for me.I was dying to know just what occurred so it really kept my interest the whole way through. However, it is pretty tricky to follow !! I had to open a Note on my phone to record who was married to who and whose kids were whose !! Plus every single chapter is by someone different and I needed to keep flicking back to realise which mother was narrating it. I found it interesting we never learned Kendra and Paul’s surname until we were 62% in !! I only spotted this because my Note was incomplete as we’d learned all the others way before this ! They really like their biblical names as well, there, adding to my confusion !It was pretty telling how each of the mums in question managed to make dumb-arsed excuses for their respective son’s behaviour. A couple of times it made me gasp !! I didn’t “get” the playacting Bryan and Dani did when he was drunk, either, with the car valet. That sailed straight over my head, I’m afraid, however many times I read it back !There are some funny lines and one about crack dealers made me laugh out loud when I reached it, yet there are also some really sad moments, too, but I’m saying no more.I wasn’t a fan of the cover as it tells you nothing and wish she’d got a more relatable or eye-catching one but that’s her choice, I guess.I have a couple more by her in my wishlist which I am also looking forward to.
