False Flag (Jason Trapp Thrillers Book 2)
They say revenge is a dish best served cold.
But Jason Trapp is losing his taste for it. For six months, his personal crusade has taken him around the world, mopping up the last of the Bloody Monday conspirators. There’s only one left, and after the crooked financier Emmanuel Alstyne meets his maker, Trapp’s debt will be paid in full. He vows he’s done with the business of death.
Unfortunately, it isn’t done with him.
After a simple kill mission goes sideways in Macau, leaving a CIA spy kidnapped, half a dozen Chinese agents dead, and America’s satellites burning in the skies, Trapp is propelled back into the game. Eliza Ikeda was taken on his watch, and he’s determined to get her back–no matter the cost. The problem is, he has no idea who took her, why, or what they plan to do next.
Trapp knows he’s being played. And with the world’s only two superpowers hurtling toward the precipice of war, time is running out…
Retirement will have to wait.
Trapp is back in action. And this time, it’s personal.

Reacher Trapp – One & the same??
I’ve read the first 3 in the Jason Trapp series. i agree with others, they’re mostly a pretty fast-paced, easy read. I’ve read each one in about a day– of course, that’s without sleep, or just a short cat nap, and doing almost nothing else.Jason reminds me of Jack Reacher in multiple ways: Both are loners yet loyal to those they care about & respect. They are patriots. They have a deep sense of responsibility to & for others and their country. They’re both large men, which can be positive or negative, depending on the circumstances or situations they find themselves in. Neither really likes authority figures but due to their military backgrounds, will follow orders–usually. They both have a moral compass and we’re invited along as they struggle to figure where a given action might lie within their personal code. Of course, not all are a struggle. Some are mandatory either for their own survival or because it’s simply a matter of “justice”. Both are self-confident, except, perhaps, where women are concerned but they respect them and have no patience or use for men who use & abuse. They’re also both highly skilled in their tradecraft, sometimes appearing as cold and hard as those bad guys they’re pursuing.I really like the addition of Ikeda. She’s revealed another side to Trapps’ personality–a softer, nurturing side, at the same time, showing that women can be smart, tough, strong, do just about anything men can and aren’t afraid to show it or to put jerks in their place. They say opposites attract yet we’re continually shown where/how Trapp & Ikeda are alike. It will be interesting to see where these men writers take their primary character’s love interests. Yes. I said love, not lust. There really is a difference as Trapp’s discovering but is it enough to change who you innately are?Unfortunately, the other thing these books have highlighted for me, is just how self-serving, manipulative, outright crooked and greedy our politicians, “public service” authorities and leaders can be– not just ours but all around the globe. These books can be read strictly for their entertainment value, or you can dive a little deeper into personalities and history, drawing corollaries to real life.

Another well-planned, original story
The author has done a lot of work coming up with original ideas that make the book a thrilling read. Most experienced readers of this genre will find some fun ideas here. I will read the next one and see where this goes. It is nice to read something that doesn’t seem like a copy & paste of parts of severalother similar books and protagonists. Many other authors seem to read each others’ books and draw large parts of ideas from each of several and merely merge them around their main character, Jack Slater is doing a very high quality, original job with his story, character, and development of each part. Of course, certain tropes are always there and we know there is a book 3, so he must have lived (not really a spoiler, I hope), but I am sure readers will enjoy this addition to their thriller library.

Action Packed
It’s a good book. I’d probably give it a 4.5 in comparison to the first two that I’ve read in the series. Only because it’s a little choppier than the others. The first book was what author had intended to be the first book in the series…..per his website. The I read the actual first book in the series. I’ve enjoyed them all immensely. If you like actioned, think on your feet, never a dull moment, “oh great….here we go again type of books then this book and series is for you. The series, in general, is a little more military and alphabet agency/black ops-ish than series like “Jet”, “Jonathan Roper” or “Clayton White”. Jason had a great military career with a reputation that still proceeds him and is “officially” retired. But, after saving the president’s life……well one can kind of get pulled back into situations where no one is supposed to be. Jason does have a little bit of vendetta, as well as, memories of a very tough childhood. Both give him the wherewithal and tenacity to get the job done by any means necessary. On the other side of the coin, he still has a heart and a strong moral code that he lives by.

Real Hero Stuff
This was a great book. It let us see the calculating side of Jason, the tough side, the soft side and the always present patriotic side. Wonderful read that was hard to put down. Can’t wait for the next adventure!

non stop action
Interesting story with mega repercussions. Lots of ups and downs with my only criticism being that both of the scenarios the hero was thrown into were so world ending if they failed. But I will try one more.

Intriguing, meticulously researched and well written
Suggested by Amazon based on my book choices, I bought book 1 of the Jason Trapp series, Dark State. That single click of the mouse lured me in to Jack Slater’s works, and Jason Trapp’s world. Of course, I had to follow up with False Flag, a seamless integration with book 1; and now? It’s on to Flash Point. I’m hooked on the story, the page-turning suspense, the setting(s) and the characters; all so well developed, but not to the point of over-kill. NOTE TO READERS – Be sure to read the Author’s note at the end of each book. It will open your eyes to what is real; what is probable and what is possible. Well done, Mr. Slater, very well done.

Best military operations story I have read for a really long time!
Loved the devision of time, the never ending belief in Right. The suspense was awesome. the ending always in doubt but perfect.

Loved it, again no let up in fast paced action and devious plots, so glad I got to find this hero. Highly recommended, read alone but best to follow the whole set. Enthralling. I lived in Hong Kong many years ago and love the fact that I could recognise places I’ve lived and swum in as in Deep Water Bay, just around the corner from Repulse Bay. Brilliant memories and accurate facts.

A well written and well researched thriller that keeps the reader on edge about the possibility of a nuclear showdown between superpowers.I throughly enjoyed the book and recommend it.
