Ends too soon!
This fascinating g inside view of reporters who cover the actions of the US president ends in 2019. Would the ending have been the same if Acosta included Jan 6, 2021 or Jan 20, 2025, or after reading what Trump stated about turning off networks in March 2025, or the details of Project 2025? I would guess Acosta’s conclusion would have been over different.

Truth will always be a light.
It was intriguing to know what Jim Acosta had experienced behind the scenes of a governmental train wreck that is now out in the open on steroids. Democracy does not flourish on lies. I applaud Jim’s journalistic skills at great personal risk to himself to shine a light on that darkness.

Good book supporting our first amendment
Acosta gives first hand account of the Trump white house assault on press coverage they don’t like. While not necessarily riveting literature, an interesting perspective of how vital an unobstructed free press is to our democracy. Presidents and their team all spin and sometimes outright lie, but the Trump era has brought lies to a new never seen before level. Lies even when the truth would seem to serve better. The people deserve a level of truth and honesty from government and the press is doing their job to call out and question what doesn’t smell right. Trump brought much of the discourse with press upon himself with his behavior. You can argue that the press goes out of their way reporting mostly negative stories of Trump which may be true for sake of ratings. In summary it’s a good read and reminder that dictatorships not democracies shackle the free press.

I’m glad I read it. So there!
This is one of many books inspired by the Trump Administration. Jim Acosta as well regarded a long time Washington journalist who is currently with CNN. He was famously escorted off of the White House grounds and his press pass we suspend it by the White House press secretary. With that in mind, we read about his experience starting with the 2016 campaign and then at the White House. He tells his story of an assault on both the first amendment and the American public. He writes about the legitimization of “Fake News”, and Trump’s campaign to hurt the trust of the media in order to sow tension in the electorate and further divide us. He talks about rising violence against reporters, murders, kidnappings, bombs, physical attacks and threats while covering Trump.Like watching “The West Wing” we learn about the day to day workings of covering The White House, the ground zero of global news. It’s clear that hard feelings still exist within Acosta. He repeatedly finished an arc in the story with some kind of statement that, in essence, meant the same as “So there!”But I’m glad I read it.

Honest and Courageous
As one might expect, the reviews of this book are more of an exposure of one’s politics than a critique of a writer’s efforts. The ugly reviews reflect a leader that has taught ugliness to his followers like no President in modern history. His followers simply say what they think their leader would have them say. Actually, having been raised in a home that contained elected officials from both political parties, I can look at what this author has written objectively and not from a biased perspective. It is honest. It is revealing. It is the experience of a genuine member of his profession, asking hard questions, as reporters are expected to do. The negative responses to it reflect the sharp divisions of the country, brought on by a very divisive President. Not at all sure if our country can withstand our current crisis, I am proud of Acosta’s attempt to share the truth as he has experienced it, regardless of the reaction of his readers.

Clear warning.
If we are not vigilant we are going to end up like the two countries Trump loves most with the two autocratic rulers like the ones he admires the most, Putin and Kim Kong Un. This is what Acosta is telling us from his first hand experience. His writing style is exactly like his reporting. He is to the point in an easygoing style, honest and creative in his writings You could not write and publish a book like this in North Korea or Russia. Thank goodness for reporting and reporters like Acosta.

The real truth about “fake news”
I’ve read a few reviews here from Trump supporters who are clearly unable to handle the truth about how their hero and his minions are attempting to quash our country’s free press. To date, there have been fifteen negative reviews and only one verified purchase. I doubt that any of those who gave the book one star have actually read it. Or that they can even read at all.It is in large part due to the steadfast reporting of people like Acosta that we have learned of Trump’s deceit and duplicity. We need people like him to ensure that this president and future presidents are held accountable. The author should be commended for standing up to Trump and his administration in spite of the threats he’s received.Highly recommended for those who prefer real news rather than alternative facts.

Great reading!!!
Way to go Jim Acosta!!This great book gives a look into the Trump White House. The lack of transparency and truth and the exhausting and unpredictable behavior of our president are well documented by our courageous reporters. As Americans we have the power to change everything! We need to remind ourselves that The President, and the Congress, works for US. I beg the media to continue to expose the lack of presidential decorum and the under the radar waves of dishonesty and corruption. Remind us that is time to say “enough “, Make America Respected Again! MARA!!Let’s move from MAGA to MARA!!

Édifiant et passionnant. Bien écrit et instructif. Très utile pour découvrir les dessous des relations entre Trump et la presse.

I like Jim Acosta. I think he is an honest reporter treated terribly by the White House. I found his book interesting and quite scary with the loony people he has to deal with,to get the truth out.

Darkening clouds over America-today the laughing stock in the world. The bully being bullied by North Korea and Iran with the bigger button not available for use!

To Americans who exclaim, “fake news” every time the press presents facts about Trump and his administration – are you aware that all over the world, people are watching American news channels LIVE and have witnessed Trump and his minions lie, contradict one another and mislead the American people? The whole planet is watching!Jim Acosta’s book needs to be read, as a reminder of what America is turning into under the Trump administration – a country ruled by a inept and tyrannical administration, to be feared by everyone from democratic countries to the mother, no longer clutching her children at the Mexican border, striped of all hope that once America stood for. America, the world used to look up to you. Not any more. The world needs the America without Trump.
