The Mirage (Rollback)
Mike Mansfield is back, trying to help a grieving family make sense of a terrible tragedy. However, to his surprise, the details of the event don’t entirely make sense, not from the family, the police, nor the official report. Something about the story doesn’t fit, but Mansfield has no idea what it is. All he knows is that someone is watching him, very carefully.
As he and his invisibles begin piecing the puzzle together, they realize the original facts of what happened are nothing of the sort. The story itself was never meant to be anything but a mirage. To tie things up quickly and prevent people from looking too closely. Even worse, no one ever expected someone like Mansfield to show up and accidentally step into the middle of it.
Something is bubbling beneath the surface, and it has been for a long time. Something big but completely unnoticed. And for those orchestrating it, Mike Mansfield is the last person they would ever want involved. Because most people don’t know what Mansfield is capable of… until it’s too late.

Eager for more!
Michael always takes me on a great adventure. I am an avid follower of his Breakthrough series and am now captivated by this new series. I love a good thriller that keeps me guessing and has intriguing characters….this doe not disappoint! I look forward to the next installment, which I have preordered.

The Mirage: by Michael C. Grumley
This book, like the one preceding it, consists mostly of hyperbole and wasted HOT AIR. Mike used-to-be a favorite author of mine, but NOW he writes just to hear himself talk.A rating of 3.5 is more appropriate.

Amazing Sequel to Rollback
The Mirage picks up where Rollback left off and continues with another fast-paced thrill ride with the same characters continuing there mission. The story is so hard to put down and the heroes are so well developed you feel like you know them. I highly recommend!

What if Technology could piece together massive data that could Determine an Outcome in real time?
This is another thoughtfully written and researched book by Bay Area author Michael Grumley. It is a technological mystery, with international involvement. As in previous books Michael is interested in technology that may not actually be operating and in place, but considers what would happen if this piece of the technology puzzle were actually available? It’s another good read with characters well thought out and a good plot. I am 3/4 finished and usually have figured out the full plot, but have not yet figured it out. So it’s a fun and engaging read.

Hard to put down
This book was absolutely amazing. Even though it’s fiction, it pushes you to think in a completely different way, and that’s what made it so captivating for me. I don’t usually watch the news because there’s so much negativity, but stories about missing children are sadly something we hear far too often. That real‑world connection made the plot hit even harder.I could barely put this book down. Every chapter pulled me deeper in, and now I’m stuck waiting until May for the sequel — which feels downright painful after that ending. If you’re looking for a story that’s both thrilling and thought‑provoking, this one is worth every page.

unusual heros
I like the invisible characters ( older people) theme. It underscores that youth has nothing on age and experience. Complex enough to keep me engaged.

The Mirage is a very good book
“The Mirage” was very good. I never wanted to put it down! Character development was great, engaging story, and a good follow-on to “Rollback”. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

Pay attention to what’s behind the curtain.
An intriguing read, again !, as with all of Michael Grumley’s series of books. This story continues with a familiar group of investigators and problem solvers. In addition, the use of a “new” technology is a tremendous use of AI. Couple this new world tech & foreign intervention with old fashioned strength and resolve you have an excellent story and a smooth read. I fully recommend this series as well as the authors other series

I like the way the author builds the story and the main characters
