An Unfinished Story: A Novel
A grieving widow and a disenchanted writer form an unexpected bond in a novel about second chances and finding the courage to let go of the past.
It’s been three years since Claire Kite lost her husband, David, an aspiring novelist, in a tragic car accident. Claire finally finds the courage to move on; then she discovers among the remnants of her shattered world her husband’s last manuscript. It’s intimate, stirring—and unfinished. An idea comes to her…What if she can find someone to give David’s novel the ending it deserves?
Whitaker Grant is famous for his one and only bestselling novel—a masterpiece that became a hit film. But after being crippled by the pressure of success and his failed marriage, Whitaker retreated from the public eye in his native St. Petersburg, Florida. Years later, he’s struggling through a deep midlife crisis. Until he receives an intriguing request from a lonely widow. To honor David’s story, Whitaker must understand, heart and soul, the man who wrote it and the woman he left behind.
There’s more to the novel than anyone dreamed. Something personal. Something true. Maybe, in bringing a chapter of David’s life to a close, Claire and Whitaker can find hope for a new beginning.

Raging Thunderstorms Healing
A touching story that will not only feel you with hope, but fleeting anger of how children are treated once brought into this world. Luckily some of these children get a break and find someone who will love them and protect them. There are many who don’t get that and then we wonder why this world is like it is today. If you need a book that will make you laugh and cry…finish, this book.

A Tender and Uplifting Story About Love, Loss, and New Chapters
An Unfinished Story is a truly lovely and emotional read. After losing her husband, Claire’s journey through grief, healing, and rediscovery is both heartwarming and deeply moving. The discovery of his unfinished manuscript adds a unique and beautiful layer to the story. This book gently reminds us that even after great loss, new stories can still be written.

what a magnificent read
This storyline is touching and very heartfelt. Goes to show there are good people somewhere out in the world other than those we have held so near and dear to our hearts. Even though they are gone doesn’t mean the memories of them are. The fact that this story was not finished but was finished by someone who was going to be good to Claire was a relief and I’m sure Claire’s husband can appreciate that. I actually started to cry in the middle/end of the story. Finding Oliver was a great twist as well.

I cried
This book brought so many tears to my eyes. Every single character in this has had nothing but phenomenal character development, and the story jumps off the pages. I’ve never connected with a child in a story so much because I come from a broken family myself I’m grateful to see such a happy ending because I really hope that more kids in the foster system can see the story and learn that there are good things in the world. And yes, I cried typing this 😂

A story of renewal
An Unfinished Story: A Novel by Boo Walker, takes place in modern-day Florida. It’s a story of renewal, of overcoming grief and guilt, and turning misunderstanding to acceptance.Claire Kite lost her husband, David, three years ago in a tragic car accident. Although she continues to manage her up-scale restaurant in Coquina Key, Florida, she’s just putting in time. Life isn’t worth living without David. But she knows life goes on and she’s determined to start anew. The first step is to sell their house—it’s not a home without David.David, a successful architect, was also an aspiring writer and was about half way through his first novel, Saving Orlando. While cleaning out David’s office, Claire finds the manuscript and reads it for the first time. She’s impressed with the story and feels if she can find a writer to finish it, she will have kept David’s memory alive with something that had been dear to him.Whitaker Grant is in a slump. Once famous for his first and only bestselling novel, a masterpiece that became a successful film, he has run out of steam. It’s been ten years and he hasn’t written anything worthy of print, his wife has left him, and he’s wallowing in mid-life crises. When Claire approaches Whitaker to take on the task of finishing David’s book, the has-been writer turns her down. She persists and what follows is a story of redemption, though not easily won.I loved this novel. The author tells the story with a strong sense of place—I could smell Florida’s salty air, could almost savor its unique cuisine. I appreciated his sharing a writer’s life, of what it means to lose yourself in a story, to bare your soul, and to have the tenacity to stick with the project long enough to bring it to a proper conclusion.

well written, rich characters
A nicely written story with believable characters. I enjoyed the storyline. Not rushed, but not sleepily slow.My only somewhat negative criticism, for me personally , is that the characters be described in a bit more detail physically so I could picture them a little more clearly.

Not Boo’s Best, but Okay
Boo Walker is a good writer and I’m a fan. He has many good books to offer. But I got the impression that this 2020 release (during the pandemic) might have caught him distracted and off his game. He had an advance, his publisher was on him, so he put out this novel. It became a hit because people were stuck at home and desperate for books to read. The supermajority of 5-star ratings from that period reflect that. What’s interesting about the premise of this novel, a famous author taking over an unfinished work from a deceased author, actually happened for Boo Walker with his excellent new release, The Secrets of Good People, originally started by the late-Peggy Shainberg. That’s pretty cool.

TOUCHING & INTIMATE LOOK AT GRIEF & GUILT
This is a touching and intimate story about a famous author battling his grief of a failed marriage, and his demons with writers block, and the plucky woman he meets who is suffering her own issues. It’s a lovely story with romance and wonderful humor thrown in. The writing is superb by the real author, Boo Walker. (What a fabulous name!). Boo Walker gets into the intimate minds of all his characters. He is hard on Wick Grant and my heart ached for him.I had no idea that this story took place in St. Petersburg, Florida before purchasing this book on kindle, and it was a real treat to read about so many of my favorite spots. I lived in the pink streets area of St. Pete for over 20 years and even worked at the mighty, historical Don CeSar Hotel for 13 years before moving to Sarasota, which also played an interesting part in the story. It was almost like the book read like an ad for St. Pete and the Tampa Bay Area. I learned facts about St. Pete that I didn’t even know, and I could definitely picture his little cottage in old Gulfport. You can tell how much Boo Walker loves his new home in Florida and shows so much pride for the area.My only disappointment is that Boo is not participating in the FloridaReading Festival sponsored by The Tampa Bay Times in November. I highly recommend this wonderful book….it’s an adventure in reading.By the way….I ordered all 4 books in his Red Mountain series. I can’t wait to read more from Boo Walker.
