Fun and witty!
This is not my usual book but bought it on a deal. Throughly enjoyed it!! Love the characters. Very real life scenarios. Quick read, funny and believable. Going to read other books by this author!

Another awesome read by Tracy Bloom
Tracy’s books are so relatable that you have to laugh or cry or both. I couldn’t put this book down and I was sad when it got to the end of the year. Highly recommended.

Good read
Not exactly where I thought this would go but better. Hats off to those who can actually revive their relationships.

Refreshing
Comfortable writing style that is so smooth you become the wife and live her life. So many beach books are forced or filled with gushes and exclamation points. Nice story with believable characters.

So true
Life as seen through the eyes of an almost 50 year old. I am 74 and believe me the author nailed it.

so NOT funny!
Sorry but I did not find this book funny AT ALL. I was just about able to finish it.

UNREAL…
I can’t believe that any mom and dad would allow their teenage daughter to have a boy in her room Ms then disrespect the parents by speaking to them rudely when reprimanded about it: nor would a mom reward her by taking her to a “PUB” to drink and have a chat about her first love. Nor would today’s parents allow their teenaged son to curse and disrespect them the way Freddie was allowed to do with his family. Cathy was basically a doormat for her family, but pushed back on everything her husband suggested, though the whole Helen thing was out of place in the book. The entire book just made no sense at all and the author was kind of all over the place. I will give her credit for allowing the characters to actually speak instead of having long narrations about what they were thinking and feeling…I hope her next one is better and more realistic☹️

The Wife who got a Life – Tracy Bloom5 stars from me. RecommendedTracy Bloom has excelled herself with this rollocking, seriously funny diary of a perimenopausal woman and her determination to find a new life. Cathy is a long-suffering wife in the tradition of all menopausal women who are wondering: is this it? Is this to be their life from now on? Having long been a fan of Bloom’s No one ever has sex novels, it was a joy to find the same humour, the same enjoyable ride through family life as previously. And yet, there’s now more. There’s a slightly more sophisticated handling of the main character – Cathy – than with previous Bloom novels. It was a joy, kept me enthralled all the way through and certainly with more than one actual laugh out loud moment.5 stars from me. Recommended.
V. O’Regan –
‘The Wife Who Got a Life’ is Tracy Bloom’s latest. I have enjoyed a few of her previous novels. The wife in this story is Cathy Collins – a mum on a mission to change her life. In the opening chapter her sister had given her a ‘Motivational Diary’ for Christmas. Her response was initially to be insulted: “Why on earth did she think I needed a Motivational Dairy? She lives in California and passes her time mostly up to her neck in yoga poses and kale smoothies and somehow she thought this qualified her to tell me how to run my life.”Still, Cathy relents and fills out a goal for every month such as ‘Ditch Cooking’ and ‘Get a Life Outside the Family – Preferably with ‘Young People’. Meanwhile her husband, Mike, is having a midlife crises and her two kids are being angst-ridden teenagers. So amidst all this family drama, Cathy is determined to take back control. This novel was a great pleasure to read. While mainly a comedy there are also some serious topics woven into the narrative. I certainly felt that it was full of warmth and insight and many, many laugh out loud moments.Overall, an uplifting, entertaining novel.

A motivational story of a woman who received a diary for Christmas and added things that she wanted to achieve each month. By the end of the year looking back she found that what she had actually achieved was happiness and contentment with the life that she has. Well worth a read

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was thoughtful, and laugh out loud funny in places. It was easy to get into the story, and empathise with the characters. Each one pulled on a different heartstring. I will look out for more from this author.
Carol –
When the main character, Cathy, receives a motivational diary, she addresses her work and domestic situations in order to find happiness and be more fulfilled. I generally love Tracy Bloom’s books, her quick-witted, fast-paced stories normally draw me in, but I didn’t quite get this one. I liked Cathy and enjoyed the portrayal of her son, who provided some of the more humorous moments within the story. Much of life is touched upon, and there’s a happy ending; however, I think perhaps the title had led me to expect more than Cathy’s life changes delivered.
